Pride Collection

Design1-6bg.png

BRIEF

This was a personal project born from the backlash that tends to (pun intended) come out every year towards Pride collections. Often the complaints are that the designs look too "flashy" and "neon rainbows everywhere". I wanted to create a Pride collection that could still embrace the spirit of Pride but also be something functional for clothing outside of Pride month.

When creating these three designs, I wanted to have a range of "outness" to fit someone's personal style and comfort level with showing their pride. I also wanted designs that could easily be changed for the different Pride flags configurations. Each of the designs lend towards a more muted color palette that's much easier on the eyes.

design #1

This first design features hand drawn flowers. These flowers can easily be taken off or added on depending on the number of colors needed and the colors can easily be modified for every color in the rainbow. The imagery is delicate, and each flower is different - representing the different people that exist in the community.

design #2

This design represents wavelengths. Being on the same "wavelength" as someone else, means you understand them and can communicate in a special way. That is similar to how people in the community feel when they see one of their own in public. It's a symbol of "Here I am, I'm like you."

design #3

You can't have a Pride collection without one rainbow! The movement of the colors "growing" represents the progress that has been made and will continue to be made in the community. Whether you're fully out and proud in your journey, or just beginning to figure things out, there is a place for you in the rainbow.
